Pale green summer tie

Pale green summer tie

During summer you will often find yourself in a situation when you do not really feel like wearing the same navy or similar dark colour jacket. Instead you would prefer something lighter like cream, white, pale blue or maybe even seersucker striped jacket. It is important to match the colours carefully then.

IMG_0815ed-sSame happened to me this weekend when I went for a cream jacket and matched it with darker shade of khaki trousers. The fabric is rather thick so they drape nicely and keep their shape. Because I wanted to wear one of my new ties – this pale green summer one with dots on it (from gentlemanschoice.pl) – I had to choose different background for this pattern. Blue shirt or striped would work but instead I decided to wear the very versatile and casual gingham shirt. I think the difference in patterns is pleasing and the shade of blue is dark enough to make a contrast. The tie is made of silk, though it is not plain. It has a bit of a texture – similarly to shantung. At a first look it reminds cotton a bit. It is 2.5in wide so fairly thin which makes it definitely a smart casual outfit tie. A short person like myself don’t have problems with a firm knot but someone being 190cm high should not expect big knot, it will be rather slim, as is the case with all slim (<8cm) ties. I really like the pastel colour and dots which are of just a right size. It will look very nice with white shirt and blue suit as well as with different patterns and fabrics like in my todays outfit. On top of that I just noticed that it is currently on sale for approx. £30 (146PLN)!

I also got a linen pocket square that I purchased during my visit to Warsaw late June. It is made of a very colourful linen. Clearly it already is a third pattern so it starts to be tricky. You may want to decide yourself if the composition is nice. The other option would be to choose more plain – i.e. white linen – pocket square and avoid confusion with the pattern matching.
