Zaremba bespoke sport coat – third fitting
Disclaimer: this post is in collaboration with Zaremba Bespoke Tailoring who kindly offered to make this bespoke coat for me. They do not have any influence on the review and have not seen it before publishing.
This is a third post already from the series on my Zaremba bespoke sport coat project I am making with Maciej, owner of Zaremba Bespoke Tailoring. You can read the first part here and the second one here.
It actually is a second proper fitting (second visit to Warsaw) but third meeting with the Tailor and Head Cutter Mariusz. Sleeves have been adjusted as well as the armholes. Lapels have the outer layer of fabric sewn it and are of final width now. Pockets are ready, including the second small one inside on the right hand side.
Length in the back has been increased slightly which needs only minor adjustment based on the fitting. Proper length means that it covers the butt and has the waist line in the actual waist. We also decided to take the waist just a bit (pin in the photos below) to keep it tailored and sharp. To allow for the vents to sit vertically in the back and not open we will make sure there is enough amount of fabric around the hips – horizontal chalk marks at the side vents.
The jacket has still the temporary collar attached (padded by machine) but will have the final hand padded one for the final fitting later this month.
Armholes are quite high and very comfortable. Below you can see a photo of the back clearly showing you the proportions. Sleeve length will be narrowed marginally – to 13cm – good spot by the Cutter. It will be in a good relation to my slim build and waisted jacket. At this stage it is getting more and more difficult because the tailor has to make sure the windowpane check aligns everywhere. You don’t want to ruin the appearance. The finish of the sleeve will be with a bit of shirring.
Bespoke is a real process. I find it very enjoyable. The more often I go this route I find it more of an experience than just buying a product. It is a process of fitting a garment to your body, made only for you by people with years of experience and knowledge. That is something nobody will ever take away from you – enjoyable experience. It is best to try to enjoy it as much as possible because you will “only” end up with a finished garment. Sport coat that will serve you years, for sure, but the experience and memories are never forgotten.
I am going to see Zaremba bespoke for the final fitting at the end of May and expect it to be ready early June. Thinking about it now, I don’t really want the whole process to end..
Have a look at the rest of the photos below. As always, thanks for reading!
