Suitsupply winter 14 collection – favourite items

Suitsupply and their new collection strikes again. It was late August when it was announced and the pre-order become available. However, who cares about outerwear and knitwear in the end of August? When it finally is September and the weather starts to be wet again one can start looking for warmer clothes and more season-suitable fabrics and colours. It’s been brands big strength and Suitsupply winter 14 collection does not disappoint. Lots of new and rare in RTW fabrics, some even say that there is not enough classic items. Well, here are my favourite items from the latest collection. Koniec sierpnia, wiec nowa kolekcja Suitsupply trafila najpierw do przedsprzedazy, a powoli takze do sklepow stacjonarnych. Zimowa kolekcja zostala ogloszona i udostepniona online w ostatnich dniach sierpnia. Kto jednak o tej porze mysli o zimowych plaszczach i ciezkich tkaninach marynarek czy garniturow? No wlasnie, a skoro jest juz wrzesien to mozna w koncu zaczac myslec o chlodniejszych dniach i przygotowywac sie na sezonowe kolory i tkaniny.  To wlasnie od zawsze bylo duzym atutem Suitsupply i takze pod tym wzgledem zimowa kolekcja nie zawodzi. Niektorzy zawiedzeni byli nawet zbyt mala iloscia klasycznych modeli w ofercie! W kazdym razie, ponizej znajdziecie moje ulubione produkty z najnowszej kolekcji. Do rzeczy!

Favourite suits – Ulubione garnitury

1. Model Havana in brown check This is a big step for Suitsupply as this pattern and colour combination used to be reserved for MTM or bespoke service. There are not so many RTW brands which decided to include something as bold as this pattern in their range of clothes. Wonderful check in brown/burgundy colours is definitely an interesting fabric for a suit. Here we have a 3-piece suit in Havana style including double-breasted waistcoat. The fabric could not be any more Fall/Winter-like. Suit like this is definitely aimed at a confident man who already owns brown, navy and grey suits and want something that will stand out from the crowd. This model does it job perfectly. Widziac taki garnitur w kolekcji marki RTW pomyslalem – wow! Klasyczna i znana tkanina, ale niemal wylacznie w dziale MTM albo Bespoke. Nie ma zbyt wielu marek ktore uwzglednily w swojej ofercie cos tak odwaznego jak ta tkanina. Piekna tkanina w mala kratke z trzema glownymi kolorami, bardzo zywe odcienie. Tutaj dostepna w postaci 3 czesciowego garnituru w stylu Havana z dwurzedowa kamizelka. Tkanina nie mogla byc bardziej zimowo/jesienna. Nie jest to jednak garnitur dla kazdego ani na kazda okazje. Nie widze go na pewno w biurze. Jest to opcja dla odwaznych mezczyzn, ktorzy posiadaja juz garnitury w wszystkich innych podstawowych kolorach a chca wyroznic sie z tlumu – ten garnitur na pewno im w tym pomoze. 2. Model Havana in brown check This is a very similar model. The fabric colours are a little less vibrant but the suit is as nice as the model above. It features single breasted waistcoat instead of double-breasted but otherwise is identical. Havana model suits this casual fabric very well because of its softer/natural shoulders and patch pockets. To bardzo podobny model. Ten sam styl – Havana – ale kolory sa troche mniej rzucajace sie w oczy i lagodniejsze. W tym zestawie garnitur jest tez trzyczesciowy ale z kamizelka jednorzedowa. Model Havana dobrze sie nadaje do tej tkaniny poprzez swoj casualowy wyglad, ktory nadaja mu raczej naturalne ramiona i nakladane kieszenie. 3. Model La Spalla  and Sienna I tried to choose 3 favourite items out of each category but because the first 2 models are very similar I decided to include another two suits here. The first one is the La Spalla model in interesting green wool cashmere fabric by E. Thomas. I don’t think I have seen a green suit in the past but considering that green is the new brown/black/navy of the Fall/Winter season this is a smart move by Suitsupply. Green in my opinion is very underrated when speaking about jackets, suits, coats or shoes. It matches amazingly well with all standard colours and can make you look very fresh in the same time. La Spalla is a more expensive option, starting at £699. It includes hand work finish, fabric is S150’s so rather thin, elegant and soft – also very delicate. Construction is full canvass, while collar, shoulders and buttons are all stitched by hand. The other suit I really like is more plain at a first look therefore more classic and versatile. It is a grey check Sienna model made of S130’s wool by Reda. The check is big enough not to be overlooked but also small enough to make it perfectly everyday suit. The jacket features ticket pocket – a nice detail which can be seen more and more often in the RTW suits. Mialem wybrac po trzy produkty w kazdej kategorii, ale ze wzgledu na to ze dwa pierwsze sa podobne do siebie to teraz beda kolejne dwa. Pierwszy to model La Spalla, garnitur z bardzo ciekawego zielonego splotu welny i kaszmiru od E. Thomas. Nie wydaje mi sie zebym widzial w przeszlosci wiele garniturow w odcieniu zieleni, a ostatnio kolor ten staje sie wrecz modny. Nie bez powodu, ozywia smutne jesienne barwy i swietnie pasuje do wszelkich brazow, granatow i szarosci. ‘Zielen to nowy czarny’ – bardzo dobry ruch Suitsupply. Ciekawy jestem kiedy uda sie kogos spotkac w tym garniturze. La Spalla to jedna z najdrozszych i najbardziej eksluzywnych opcji od tej holenderskiej marki. Garnitur jest uszyty na plotnie, a kolnierz, ramiona i guziki sa przyszywane recznie. Tkanina to splot S150, wiec jest raczej gladka, cienka, a przez to delikatna. Drugi garnitur to bardziej gladka i spokojna propozycja, szczegolnie w porowaniu do pierwszych dwoch. Wybralem model bardziej klasyczny i codzienny – model Sienna z welny S130 od Redy. Glownym kolorem jest szary na ktorym widac nie duza kratke. Jest wystarczajaco mala zeby nadawac sie na codzienny garnitur, takze do pracy, ale nie zbyt duza by nie przytlaczala wygladu. Marynarka ma ladny detal w postaci dodatkowej kieszonki, tzw biletowki. Bardzo ladny, dosc brytyjski akcent, ktory coraz czesciej pojawia sie w kolekcjach RTW.

Favourite jackets

I must admit I am rather disappointed with the range of jackets this season. I would expect more herringbone fabrics and more models in general but instead we have many overcoat/sweater/heavy jacket type of jackets. There is one item that immediately caught my eye and made me order it as soon as it was available. Jestem dosc zawiedziony jesli chodzi o propozycje marynarek w tym sezonie. Wybor nie jest za duzy, a przewazaja produkty typu swetro/kurtko/gruba-marynarka. Nie jestem ich najwiekszym fanem. Oczekiwalbym wiecej tkanin typu Herringbone w roznych kolorach. Jest jednak jedna marynarka ktora tak przykula moje oko, ze zdecydowalem sie ja zamowic.

1. Model Hudson

Wonderful Italian styled jacket. First thing you notice is the slightly pleated shoulder. Very subtle but visible, adds a bit of width to your posture and enhances the casual style of this Italy-inspired jacket. Another nice detail is the patch breast pocket. The fit is very similar to the Havana jacket. The fabric chosen is a perfect choice because I’ve been waiting for a classic navy blazer like this for ages. It is however worth noticing that the colour is really dark so you will need dark coloured ties to make it work. It definitely is not blue – it is deep navy. Piekna marynarka w stylu wloskim. Pierwsze co da sie zauwazyc to przede wszystkim ladne marszczenie przy wszyciu rekawa – spalla camicia. Jest dosc subtelne ale wystarczajaco wyrazne. Taki sposob wszycia rekawa nadaje postawie troche szerokosci i podkresla casualowy, wloski styl marynarki. Kolejnym ladnym detalem jest zaokraglona kieszonka piersiowa.  Dopasowanie jest bardzo podobne jak w modelu Havana. Tkanina z ktorej wykonano ten model to idealny wybor na klasyczny granatowy blazer, ktorego szukalem wieki. Tkanina jest bardzo miekka i mila w dotyku. Warto dodac, ze ma natomiast dosc ciemny odcien. Na pewno nie mozna go nazwac niebieskim, jest raczej solidnym granatem. Potrzebne beda wiec krawaty w ciemniejszych odcieniach tak zeby nie gryzly sie z marynarka.

Extra: outerwear and trousers

While Suitsupply designers failed at delivering impressive jacket range they clearly did great in producing fabulous overcoat collection. There are many beautiful pieces starting from all-time classics like the Camel Double Breasted coat, going through very interesting Houndstooth coat and finally this bold Alpaca Mohair blend overcoat. Wow! Seeing that kind of fabric in RTW line is amazing. It definitely won’t be their best selling item but it is good to know we have options. Honestly I would purchased the Camel and Houndstooth ones if I needed a coat for the season. I am gonna have to pay Suitsupply’s store a visit and check these bad boys in person. W koncu gratis – plaszcze i spodnie. Mimo, ze projektanci w mojej opinii polegli w kategorii marynarek, to nadrobili to w dziale plaszczy. Zaproponowane modele sa fantastyczne, bardzo niespotykane. Jest przynajmniej kilka rzeczy ktore sam chcialbym miec w szafie. Zaczynajac od klasycznego dwurzedowego plaszcza w kolorze camel, poprzez swietna czarno-biala krate tzw Houndstooth az po bardzo odwazny plaszcz z splotu moheru i alpaki – zwierze pochodzace od lamy. Widziac taka tkanine w kolekcji RTW jestem naprawde pod wrazeniem. Oczywiscie nie bedzie to najlepiej sprzedajacy sie model, ale dobrze przynajmniej wiedziec, ze mamy takie opcje ;). Sam wybralbym dwa pierwsze plaszcze, ale z przyjemnoscia zajrze do sklepu i ogladne alpake z bliska. Last but not least are the trousers. It is very interesting to see a bespoke-like details in the RTW range of clothes. Ticket pockets and side adjusters are a smart addition. Small pattern fabric is a nice choice this season compared to pale grey versions. I can see a Prince of Wales check trousers next year in the collection. Na koniec, tez wazne, spodnie. W tym sezonie oprocz klamerek po bokach mamy spodnie z dodatkowa kieszona na przodzie. Widac jak w tym sezonie przylozono sporo uwagi do detali i to tych ktore zwykle nie pojawialy sie w kolekcjach RTW. Spodnie wykonano z ladnych tkanin  malych wzorach, ktore latwo bedzie dopasowac do marynarek. W kolejnym sezonie widze w kolekcji Suitsupply spodnie z tkaniny Prince of Wales. Well, I think that is all. Again Suitsupply impresses with the choice of fabrics and colours combinations. Very strong outerwear range this season. On the downside I think some of the prices went up, especially of the jackets which is a little surprising. The navy jacket cost £299 now which is the price of the Lazio suit. Can’t do much about it though. To chyba tyle o nowej kolekcji. Kolejny raz Suitsupply robi wrazenie, ale oczywiscie nie sprosta gustom kazdego klienta. Na pewno w tym sezonie mozna wybrac calkiem odwazne produkty, ktore trudno zdobyc u innych marek. Niestety ceny tez poszly troche w gore, a szczegolnie zabolala mnie cena marynarki modelu Hudson, ktora kosztuje tyle co garnitur w modelu lazio – £300. Coz, na to jednak nie mamy zbyt duzego wplywu.
