Shantung in grenadine weave by Shibumi Berlin

Shantung in grenadine weave by Shibumi Berlin

This time a post with lots, lots of photos. It maybe is much nicer to look at some photos rather than reading text which might be too long. Will give it a try and if you don’t like it I will stick to around 10 photos per post. Don’t be fooled by the sun. It was still pretty cold – this is why I was wearing heavy flannel. No, it is not a coincidence that I start almost every post with some writing on weather. Weather is one of the most important factors which you should take into account when choosing your daily outfit. I guess one of the first things in the morning is to check weather app and see if it is going to rain or not – at least I do that. This governs my shoe choice of the day and then the trousers and rest of clothes. Cutting to the chase then. I am wearing this pair of flannel trousers, I believe the fabric is around 13oz. Yes, quite heavy. I do not think I will be wearing them again in the next 4 or so months. This is the first ever made to measure pair I got from Luxire. Very well made as always, nice details and fit is very good as well. There are some flaws however, as always. Rise could be higher – I changed that in my next order – and I should have deleted the belt loops. Actually I have been using them but no longer wear belt. Braces are so much more comfortable that I do not even like to think about belts ;). People say over and over that they do not like clip braces with belt loop trousers but I do not care about that. I don’t even care enough to send them pics of some seriously stylish guys (mostly Italian) who wear it exactly the same. Dont like it – don’t wear it like this. Simple as that. Key element of this outfit is the tie and pocket square. I tried to show as much of them as possible, hopefully I did a good job. Tie is amazing and so interesting! I have been a big fan of Shantung silk for a long time, this one is unfortunately only my first tie in this fabric. I got it from Shibumi Berlin (I did a post on them some time ago, check it here and especially here). They are still introducing new exciting styles to their tie and pocket squares range so it is worth checking their tumblr or website for updates. It is very well made, edges are hand rolled and it is a 3 fold construction. Colour is very deep as you can see below, texture is visible because of grenadine weave and matte appearance makes the look more casual. Yes, one might say that grey flannel and shantung silk are on two opposite sides but does it look bad? Pocket square is also from Shibumi – you can browse the other summer styles by clinking the link above. Very tasteful design and I love all three versions of it. Have a nice day!IMG_9704IMG_9715_2 IMG_9729-film IMG_9732_2 IMG_9761_2-filmIMG_9637_2IMG_9643IMG_9647IMG_9648IMG_9657IMG_9660IMG_9663IMG_9679IMG_9690IMG_9696IMG_9711
