Long sleeve polo shirt
Once in a while, when the weekend comes, you do not want to put on the same dress shirt you already use for work. You would rather prefer something more casual that goes well with jeans or sweater? In my opinion the option is, other than a casual dress shirt, a long sleeve polo shirt. I decided to order a made-to-measure version from Luxire. There are many other brands where this kind of shirt is available from. The only thing that always bothers me is the type of the collar. I want my long sleeve polo shirt to be worn under a jacket most of the time, alternatively under a sweater. This is why the collar must not fall down under the lapel. It needs to keep the shape and stand against the collar of the jacket.
When ordering a polo shirt I decided to use Luxire’s standard button-down collar which I think does the job perfectly. The only request I had was that the collar waistband needed to be sufficiently lined. I haven’t got a swatch of this pique cotton so couldn’t estimate the necessary amount of lining. Luxire responded to this request perfectly.
In terms of measurements. I simply want my casual polo shirt to fit exactly the same as the dress shirt I own which are quite fitted. You can ask Luxire to adjust the measurements as you like but would be better to provide them with as many exact requests as possible to avoid any misunderstanding. For example if you want to wear it untucked ask for a shorter total length. Similarly with the cuffs – you might want them to be tighter or looser. It is totally up to you how do you want it to wear it.
So the details of the shirt are following:
- button-down collar
- cuffs as in a dress shirt
- buttoning as in a pullover (3 buttons from the top)
- lined collar band
The other casual item I think is worth mentioning is the wool pocket square I got from Gentleman’s Choice online store. It has a hand-rolled edges and is made of 100% wool. Colours are vibrant and the rough wool fabric allows easy forming in the breast pocket.
I am also wearing:
Jacket – Suitsupply brown check Havana jacket (similar to this one)
Trousers – Levi’s denim
Shoes – Meermin brown suede double monks
Bracelets – Trashness
Watch – Fossil
Portfolio – 100% hand made leather by Warsaw Hand Crafts
